Hotel Fernanda – Bed and Breakfast Cesenatico
Hinterland and Surroundings
The Romagna Riviera, including the city of Cesenatico, an ancient fishing village, boasts a beautiful hinterland on both the Forlì-Cesena and Rimini sides, where two stunning valleys, Val Conca and Val Marecchia, are located. The hinterland of these two provinces has long shone with its own light, no longer merely a secondary destination relying on the crumbs left by beach tourism, but instead striving to create its own identity and space, by enhancing the villages and natural resources found here. Let’s start our journey from Santarcangelo.
Santarcangelo
Santarcangelo is the gateway to the province of Rimini on the Via Emilia and at the same time a reference point for the lower Valmarecchia valley. The city is close to the most famous resorts of the Romagna Riviera, located right next to them. Within the province of Rimini, Santarcangelo is the city of fairs and markets, among which the San Martino fair, also known as the “fira di becc,” stands out, held in the clementine city on November 11th, the day of San Martino – an event that has now surpassed national boundaries. Santarcangelo is the birthplace of Tonino Guerra, who passed away a few years ago, a poet and screenwriter among the favorites of the great director Federico Fellini, a man of creativity and imagination. The Malatesta Fortress, the Capuchin convent, the fish market, the arch and square dedicated to Pope Ganganelli, and the tufa caves are all worth visiting. The historic center of the town is full of restaurants, pubs, and wine bars, where you can enjoy Romagna specialties.
San Leo
Here we enter the heart of the Marecchia River Valley. We are talking about San Leo, the historic capital of Montefeltro. San Leo is famous for its fortress, where Giuseppe Balsamo, Count of Cagliostro, was imprisoned and died, considered by many to be a champion of free thought. Every year, San Leo dedicates the event “Alchemy, Alchemies” to the Count. San Leo, according to specialized magazines, is among the most beautiful villages in Italy, along with Montefiore, which is located in the province of Rimini, in Valconca, on the opposite side of Valmarecchia. In addition to the fortress, the Pieve and the Cathedral are worth visiting. San Leo also represents the starting point for those who want to explore the entire Valmarecchia, a valley that Napoleon Bonaparte described as one of the most beautiful valleys in the world.
San Marino
San Marino is the oldest republic in the world, founded by a Dalmatian stonemason named Marino, who escaped persecution against Christians. San Marino is perched on Mount Titano, where the three towered fortresses stand: Guaita, Cesta, and Montale. Every year, San Marino is visited by many tourists who choose to spend their vacations on the Romagna Riviera and who do not miss the opportunity to climb Mount Titano to admire the magnificent historic center.
Rimini
Walking through the city of Rimini, one quickly realizes that its history has been marked by two periods: the Roman and the Malatesta eras, which have forever shaped the destiny of the city. Just think of the Roman monuments such as the Arch of Augustus, the Bridge of Tiberius, and the Surgeon’s House. As for the influence of the Malatesta dynasty on Rimini, there is the cathedral, also known as the Tempio Malatestiano, designed by Leon Battista Alberti, and the Malatesta fortress, also known as Castel Sismondo, which hosts exhibitions and events. Rimini is the entertainment capital par excellence, offering everything from theme parks to hotel accommodations, nightclubs, and a beach equipped with all services. Rimini also boasts a beautiful historic center, which is enlivened by various initiatives throughout the year, aimed at enhancing the historic center itself. Rimini is the birthplace of the great film director Federico Fellini, who masterfully depicted it in his famous film “Amarcord.”
Riccione
Riccione is the second largest city in the province of Rimini in terms of population, after the capital city of Rimini. It is known as the city of shopping and nightlife, both along the seafront in the Marano area and in the hills surrounding Riccione, with clubs like Cocoricò, Pascià, and Prince. Viale Ceccarini and Viale Dante are internationally known for their bars and boutiques, where high fashion items are sold. Riccione is a year-round tourist destination, thanks to theme parks like Aquafan and Oltremare, the new convention center, and the Riccione Terme spa. In short, Riccione offers a wide and varied tourist experience.
Cervia – Milano Marittima
Cervia, before becoming, along with its extension of Milano Marittima, an artificial city built over 100 years ago to host the Milanese bourgeoisie, one of the “capitals” of Romagna tourism, was a city dedicated to salt production and trade. Testimonies of that period of industrial archaeology remain, such as the salt warehouses, which today host various events. Cervia has never denied its past as a salt city; rather, it has enhanced this heritage in a touristic way. Cervia and its tourist districts such as Tagliata, Pinarella, and Milano Marittima are immersed in a beautiful pine forest that stretches from north to south, making the environment particularly evocative. Milano Marittima is also known for its social scene, hosting sports and entertainment stars during the summer.
Ravenna
Ravenna, within the Romagna region, is considered the city of art par excellence; its monuments have been declared “World Heritage Sites” by UNESCO. Those who visit Ravenna will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history, culture, and Byzantine art of a city that has been a meeting point for different civilizations. Ravenna is famous for its mosaics; in short, the Romagna Riviera offers everything, not just beach tourism and entertainment, but also art and culture.

What they say about us
Assolutamente raccomandato.
